Bike built for Rod
This is a picture of the bike that I started to work on for Rod. He wanted to build a bike but did not know what direction to go in. Rod got a rolling hard tail frame with a 300 back tire, springer forks and tires and rims. After picking out a new Aultma shovehead engine for his motor, we were on our way to building his bike. Above is what we started with but, there would be lots of changes to come and the direction would go all over the map. For example, "just chrome and black or brass copper and black" Even the rims would get changed. What the customer wants is what I make happen even if it is hard to do. We added a hand made copper tank and copper bars plus changed the pipe about 3 times. It was starting to take shape and then Rod wanted to change all the brass parts to polished black. |
We got the Aultma motor in and add a 3" open primary that was kick ass and made the rims looked to wimpy. So Rod hit the books and found a set of rims that were just as bad ass. Now we could move on to the wiring and runing oil lines and stuff. The back fender took me a little longer than I had wanted to get just right. Rod did not want to see any struts on the back fender so we had some custom supports made up by our machinest. They worked great but this was a tight fit with little room to play. Now we have had our first start of Rod's bike. We plan to put about a 100 miles on it before I take it apart for paint and powder coat. |
